President’s Message

Hello fellow rug hookers!
The news you’ve been waiting for is that our new meeting location is:

Blue Point Congregational Church
236 Pine Point Road
PO Box 2055
Scarborough, ME 04070 – 2055
For those that are familiar, this is directly across from Jackye Hansen’s home.

Take Exit 42 off Maine Turnpike. Turn right onto Payne Road at the lights after the tolls. When meeting up with Rt 1 go south and get immedicately into left lane. Turn left onto Rt 9 – Pine Point Rd. Follow 2.1 miles. The church is on the left – its a brick church building. The parking lot is just to the right side of the church. We’ll be entering the basement area near the end of the building along the side. They have a website –

Our meeting time will move a half hour earlier – to 10 AM. We will have the doors open at 9 AM for those preparing our coffee etc. and we will have business meetings from 10 to 11 AM. We will have business meetings in Sept, Nov and Dec. When there is no business meeting (5 are required by by-laws per year) programs will begin at 10 AMWe are going to close the doors at the church at 2 PM.
We will not have a meeting in January – the board decided not to play games with mother nature!
Our programs for the year are coming together quite well – see inside to find the details for the fall.
The Saco Museum Exhibit is coming right up. Please pay careful attention to the information in the newsletter if you’re planning to have a rug in the exhibit.
The ATHA Biennial in Lancaster PA is in October and several of us are planning to go. If you want to go, please see the ATHA website: to see what fun we will have.
Region I Rug Schools are awaiting student registrations – in November in Meredith NH, and in May 2012 in Litchfield, CT.
We have $50 scholarships for those that fill in an entry form at a meeting. Please see me to do so. We’ll draw a name for the scholarships from the entries at 2 meetings prior to each of the schools.  Please take advantage of this opportunity.

We’ll be doing a raffle rug soon – watch for details!

Dues are due this fall. Please plan to pay at a meeting!
Looking forward to seeing you all at the new location – plenty of room for all!
Take care,
Cheri Nixon,
