Tin Pedlar Chapter of ATHA, southern Maine Region I.
The name “Tin Pedlar” was chosen to honor Edward Sands Frost of Biddeford, Maine, who, in 1865, was the first to design tin stencils for hooked rug patterns. One of nine local ATHA chapters in New England, the Maine Tin Pedlar chapter has over 100 members. It was organized by seven ladies in September 1980 and was the sixth chapter to join ATHA.
Tin Pedlar chapter dues are $20.00 per year and renew each September. Please make checks payable to “Tin Pedlar Chapter” or “Maine Tin Pedlar”. You must also be a member of ATHA International to be a member of the Tin Pedlar chapter. By joining ATHA, members will receive six ATHA magazines per year. These magazines list rug hooking schools, meetings, activities, teachers and suppliers, as well as providing educational articles to enrich and inform the membership. Members’ works are also showcased in each issue. ATHA dues are $26 and are payable directly to ATHA.
